Students assess their own artwork in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Self-assessment helps students become reflective about their work and fosters a dialog between student and teacher. Up to 50% of the grade a student receives in art is based upon their own assessment of their work. Artwork is graded on a variety of criteria which include application of the elements and principles of art, technique and processes, care and creativity, and work habits and daily performance.
